Mrs. Janice Wayne Sadler Allen, age 82, a former resident of Belhaven, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

Mrs. Allen was born in Belhaven on March 15, 1938.  She was the daughter of the late Alton “Doc” Sadler and Fannie Davis Sadler Sparrow.  Mrs. Allen was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and Atlantic Christian College. She was a retired secretary.  Mrs. Allen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.  She was a member of the Belhaven Bridge Club for many years.  Mrs. Allen loved spending time with her family, gardening, making pottery and all things outdoors.

Mrs. Allen was married to Reading Howard Allen, Jr. who preceded her in death, November 21, 2002.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Paige Allen Harris and husband, Scott of Washington; her son, Read Allen III and wife, Leah of Washington; four grandchildren, Simon and Abigail Harris, Emma and Read “H” Allen IV all of Washington; two sisters, Faye Murphy of Snow Hill, Anne Noble and husband, Billy Alexandria, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Sadler.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Paige Allen Harris, 101 Lee Place, Smallwood, Washington.
