Mrs. Kathleen Ormond Cox, age 88, a resident of Waterford Place, Washington, died Friday, March 12, 2021.

Graveside services were held 11:00 AM Monday, March 15, 2021 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, conducted by Pastor Greg Ramsey.  The following served as pallbearers:  David Brown, Joshua Clark, Allen Meekins, Billy Thurmon, Monte Weathington and Ken Maness.

Mrs. Cox was born in Beaufort County on May 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Fred Hyman Ormond and Lillian McGowan Ormond.  Mrs. Cox attended Bath High School. She worked as an insurance agent with Charlotte Liberty Mutual Insurance. Mrs. Cox retired as Dietary Manager at Britthaven Nursing Home.  She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Cox enjoyed playing cards and putting puzzles together.

On June 17, 1967, she married Rush Cox, who preceded her in death in 1985.

Mrs. Cox is survived by two daughters, Peggy Edwards and her husband, Tommy, of Washington, Joyce Blackmon and her husband, Kirk of Washington; six grandchildren, Marshall L. Thurmon, Billy G. Thurmon and wife, Lori, Jackie O. Woolard and husband, Johnny, all of Washington, Hope Manning of Greenville, Amanda Blackmon, Paula Weathington and husband, Monte all of Washington; five great grandchildren, Christie l. Brown, Joshua E. Clark, Haley Weathington, Tenley Weathington all of Washington, David S. Brown of Plymouth; and one great-great grandchild, Gracie T. Clark of Washington.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a grandson, Joe S. Thurmon, Jr.

The family received friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Joyce Blackmon, 104 Blue Gill Drive, Washington.
