Mr. Alan Eugene Emerson, age 83, a resident of Teach’s Cove, Bath, died Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A memorial service was held 1:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Washington.

Mr. Emerson was born in White Plains, N.Y. on July 11, 1937.  He was the son of the late Lucien Emerson and Lucretia Ostringer Emerson.  Mr. Emerson served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired computer programmer with First Union Bank.

In 1961, he married the former Patricia Ann Profenno, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his son Roy Emerson and wife, Tammye of Greenville; daughter, Susan Hill and husband, Mark of Gloucester, VA; seven grandchildren, Grant, Ashley, and Blake Emerson, Kelsey Barhite, Madison, Ryland and Christian Hill; two great grandchildren Harrison and Garrett Barhite; brother, Richard Emerson and wife, Donna of Portugal; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Emerson was preceded in death by his son Rodger Emerson and a sister and brother-in-law, Ariel and Bob Miner.
