Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Like other high school baseball players around the state, Cameron Craig has been waiting over a year to get back on the field after COVID-19 wiped out last season. The Panthers senior shortstop is looking forward to playing at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., but wants to help Northside make the state playoffs first.

  1. What is your fondest baseball memory so far?

Cameron: Winning the Little Tar Heel 12U state tournament in Hickory, N.C. for the Bath All-Stars. I pitched and played shortstop and it was a lot of fun.

  1. What part of baseball to you like the most?

Cameron: Playing in games and connecting with my teammates. I love playing shortstop because I’m in the middle of the action and can lead the infield.

  1. Who has been your most influential teacher?

Cameron: Coach Boyd in weightlifting class. He’s taught me how to lift weights correctly and it will help me prepare to play in college.

  1. What one word best describes you?

Cameron: Chill, because I like to relax and have fun.

  1. What three people, living or dead, would you like to have a meal with?

Cameron: My grandma who passed away recently, (Yankees shortstop) Derek Jeter, because he was my favorite when he played and George Washington, because he would be interesting to talk to. We would eat steak and potatoes.
