Mr. Billy Earl Lassiter, 48, a resident of Beaufort County, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 17th.

Born in Washington, N.C. on April 14, 1973, he was the son of Betty Elizabeth Hayes and the late Joseph Earl Lassiter; loving stepson of Davis Alan Hayes “Pop”; proud father of Cierra Logan Lassiter and Elizabeth Grace Lassiter; loving brother to Betty Jo Lassiter Mooring and doting grandfather of Alayna Claire Lassiter.

Billy was a huge animal lover, especially to his best friend Roscoe, his pit bull, who was always at his side.

Billy spent most of his career as Chief officer at the Beaufort County Animal Control. Most recently, working diligently to secure several grants to construct an outside park for animals to enjoy freedom outside.  His heart was huge, for those who knew him knew his love for animals.

Loving father, grandfather, son and brother, Billy’s best times were spent with his family.  His daughters, Cierra, and Grace were the loves of his life.  He could not have been prouder of being their Dad.

Billy loved fishing with his family and cooking/smoking all types of food.  Every holiday, he won everyone over with his delicious food. He also enjoyed gardening with his mother.  When Billy cooked, he wanted everyone together to enjoy his creations.

Billy’s family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, and other times at the home of his mother and stepfather, Betty and Davis Hayes, 8036 N. Boyd Road, Pinetown.

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
