Mrs. Lana Gail Poff Lester Baird, age 78, a resident of Bath, NC died Sunday June 27, 2021 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday July 1, 2021 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church and other times at the home.  

Mrs. Baird was born in Greenup County KY on January 6, 1943, daughter of the late Add James Poff and the late Frances Marguerite Mayo Poff.  She was a graduate of Peterstown High School in Peterstown, WV.  On March 6, 1960 she married Roy Matney Lester who preceded her in death on February 19, 2010.  She followed her husband wherever his ministry led him as a supportive minister’s wife.  Mrs. Lana, first and foremost, loved her God and Savior and her second priority in life was her family, whom she loved dearly.  She demonstrated this by her dedication to her church and her family as a homemaker.  She was a very creative person who loved embroidery and being a seamstress.  Her crafts included pottery and designing tee shirts.  Many family and friends received and cherish her handmade gifts.  Mrs. Lana was a former member of Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ and a current member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ.     

Survivors include her daughters: Joni L. Boone (Steven) of Fairlawn, VA, and Theresa L. Harris (Mitch) of Bath; grandchildren: Joshua Pettrey (Terri), Zachary Pettrey (Cori), Brooke Pettrey, Michael Boone, Andrew Boone, and Rachael Harris; and great grandchildren: Waylon Pettrey, Ashlyn Boone, Mayson Pettrey, Emma Boone, and Aiden Pettrey.  Mrs. Lana was predeceased along with her parents and husband by brothers: Lawrence “Bud” Poff, and Eddie Poff; and sisters: Frances Vaught, and Shirley Vance.
