A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at the Sasnett Family Cemetery located on Cox Road in Washington. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jimmy Johnson. Pallbearers will be Martin Purvis, Fred Tetterton, Trey Liverman, Cameron Swindell, Todd Dunbar, and Matt Mason.

Amy was born in Beaufort County on July 10, 1962. On October 26, 1996 she married the love of her life, Paul Ray Sasnett. Surviving along with her husband are: three daughters: Candice Sasnett Pearson of Greenville, Amanda Danielle Sasnett of Washington, and Kassie Sasnett Mason and husband Adam of Washington; two grandsons: Brody Reid McKinney and Ethan Oliver Pearson; sisters: Audree Parker and husband Alton of Bath, Leslie Foster and husband Earl of Belhaven; brothers: Wayne Colbert and wife Laura of Pantego, Bobby Mac Davis of Belhaven, Lowell Rhodes and wife Lea of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Greg Rhodes of Allison Park, PA; mother-in-law, Janet Dean Sasnett of Washington; sisters-in-law, Bonita Arvizu and husband Henry of Washington and Leigh Tetterton and husband Bobby of Washington; nieces and nephews, Tyler, Josh, Liz, Matt, Robyn, Adam, Ashlyn, Trevor, Destinee, Sydney, Chelsea, and John; and several special friends that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Ethan “Reid” Sasnett, her Reidman.

In addition to her son, Amy was predeceased by her mother, Janice Jordan Rhodes and husband Lowell Minton Rhodes; her father, Bobby Davis; father-in-law, Bonnie Ray Sasnett; and nephew, William Ryal Harriett.

Though born in Beaufort County, Amy was raised in Lake City, SC and attended Florence-Darlington Technical College where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Amy held many roles during her nursing career, including positions in bedside nursing, pediatrics, education, quality management and patient safety. After 35 years of nursing, she retired and began her new career as a farmer alongside her husband, Paul. She would often say that the best part of her job was that she was able to spend so much time with her husband and co-worker, Paul.

Amy was a faithful member of the Swan Quarter Baptist Church, a congregation that she lovingly referred to as her “church family”. Amy was appointed to serve as a Trustee at Beaufort County Community College by former Gov. Pat McCrory in 2016 and served in that capacity until 2020. Among the several titles she has held, she would proudly tell you that her favorite was “Granny” to her “B-Man” Brody.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the NCCF – Reid Sasnett Memorial Scholarship, c/o Anne Sorhagen, 1213 Culbreth Dr., Wilmington, NC 28405 or to the BCCC Reid Sasnett Memorial Scholarship, c/o Serena Sullivan, 5337 Hwy 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.
