Mrs. Annette Moore Mayo, age 76, a resident of Wilmar, NC died Sunday July 4, 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, following a short battle with her health.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 7, 2021 at First Church of Christ in Washington.  The service will be officiated by Ray West and Johnny Pressley.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.  Deacons of First Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.  Elders of the church and members of the Friendship Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the church and other times at the home.

Mrs. Annette was born in Cherokee County on July 26, 1944, daughter of the late Charles Henry Moore and the late Fina Myrt Waldroup Moore.  She was a graduate of Hayesville High School in Hayesville, NC and attended Berry College in Rome, GA.  On September 10, 1965 she married the love of her life, Norwood “Martin” Mayo, who survives.  Mrs. Annette was co-owner/co-operator of Mayo Associates Land Surveying along with her husband. She was a past Worthy Matron with the Washington Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.  She was a member at First Church of Christ and also a member of its Friendship Sunday School Class.  Hobbies included cooking, sewing, and yardwork, but her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving along with her husband, Martin of the home are two daughters: Michele Mayo Davis of Chocowinity and Dawn Mayo Maye and her husband Richard of Washington; two sisters: Velma Sue Bryson and her husband James of Andrews and Nikki Moore of Sylva, NC and three grandchildren: Megan Maye, Christopher Maye, and Norwood Allen Davis.  She was predeceased along with her parents by a brother: Charles David Moore.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Cancer Research, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
