Ida Faye was born to Viola and Denton Brooks on September 6, 1948 in Yeatesville, N.C.  She grew up working in the family’s tobacco farm and often shared fond memories of listening to records with her father, and shopping and traveling with her mother.  She graduated from Pantego High School in 1966 where she was captain of the girls’ basketball team and president of the Beta Club.  She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Cutler, on October 1, 1966.

Ida Faye thoroughly enjoyed her work at the Farm Service Agency in Beaufort County and in 2007 she was given the National Distinguished Service Award which was a highlight of her career.

Nothing made her happier or prouder than her children and grandchildren to whom she was known as Grammy. She loved having tea parties and doing crafts with her grandchildren and she always looked forward to their annual family beach vacation.

Ida Faye was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Linton, George Brooks and Ralph Brooks, sister, Helen Barrett and nephew, Larry Linton, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Brooks Cutler and wife, Misty of Yeatesville; daughter Laura Saufley and husband Aaron of Greenville; sister, Virginia Keech and husband, Mitchell; sister-in-law, Betty Linton; niece Donna Lou Edwards and husband, Kyle; grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden, Zachary, Wyatt, Annagrace, Madalyn, Layla, Cyrus, and Alex; several nieces and nephews; and her caregiver of ten years, Gladys Blount.
