Sydney Frances Anderson Austin, 82, of Aurora, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House.

She is a member of Campbells Creek United Methodist Church and attended Pamlico United Methodist Church.  She worked at the Pamlico Co. Board of Education, TexasGulf, and was a substitute teacher. She was also a member of the Sassy Red Hat Fossils, a board member of Friends of Aurora Library and was a former Girl Scout Leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred A. and Reba Anderson; husband, Harvey Paul Austin; and brother, Freddie Anderson.

She is survived by her son, James “Jim” Austin and wife, Ann; daughters, Karen Austin Cayton and husband, Sid, and Paula Austin Gilgo and husband, Murray; sister-in-law, Martha Anderson; niece, Carolina Anderson; nephew, Ben Anderson and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Natalie (Justin) Sepulveda, Ashlea Austin (Bud) Robertson, Kara Cayton (Jordan) Egan, Madison Gilgo, and Andrew Gilgo; and four great grandchildren, Evy and Parker Sepulveda, Wyatt Egan, and Hunter Robertson.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 19th at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico UMC, c/o Tillie Roberts, 9985 NC Hwy 306 S, Arapahoe, NC 28510 or Campbells Creek UMC, 30323 NC Hwy 33 E, Aurora, NC 27806.
