With the new school year rapidly approaching, Beaufort County Schools Superintendent Matthew Cheeseman has announced several administrative changes.

Following is a list of the changes that had taken place as of Monday. Cheeseman said more personnel will be hired based on need as the first day of school draws closer.

PRINCIPALS: Patricia Horton, former assistant principal at S.W. Snowden Elementary, was promoted to principal at the same school; Debra Windley, formerly Snowden Elementary’s principal, was named principal of the Beaufort County Ed Tech Center; Paula Sherman was promoted to principal of Northeast Elementary School after previously serving as assistant principal; and Jeff Sauls was named principal of Washington High School.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS: Lauren Hodges, a former Eastern Elementary School teacher, was named assistant principal at Snowden Elementary; former Washington High teacher Yolanda McCullor is now an assistant principal at WHS; former John Cotten Tayloe Elementary teacher Janice Henson will remain there as an assistant principal; and former Southside High School teacher Rosalyn Grimes started in January as an assistant principal at P.S. Jones Middle School. Assistant principal positions are still available at Northeast Elementary and Washington High.

DISTRICT OFFICE: Former Northeast Elementary Principal Tremaine Young is now director of student services; Ashley Padgett is transitioning from Young’s new position to become director of family and community engagement; Jennifer Smith, formerly of Wake County Public Schools, is now director of 6-12 curriculum and instruction; and Jeff Miller, formerly of Perquimans County Schools, is now BCS director of transportation
