Mrs. Jackie Smith Bowen, age 85, a resident of 24579 N.C. Hwy 32 North, Plymouth, died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Long Acre Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, conducted by Rupert Wallace.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Jerry Giles, Jr., Kyle Clodfelter, Brian Bowen, John Alligood, John Davis, and Roger Forrest. Honorary pallbearers will be

Kendal Bowen, Carson Bowen, Hayden Bowen, Jason Hollis, Ronnie Black and Joe Nowarah.

Mrs. Bowen was born in Fairfield, N.C. on February 4, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Herman S. Smith and Melva Jones Smith. Mrs. Bowen graduated from Washington High School in 1954. She retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1989. She was a member of Long Acre Chapel Christian Church and an avid Carolina basketball fan. In her spare time, Mrs. Bowen enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, cooking for her family, and going to the beach and the lake.

On January 12, 1955, she married Bruce L. Bowen, who survives.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Susan Woolard (Ronnie) of  Washington, Laurie Giles (Jerry) of Pungo, Lynn Clodfelter (Freddy) of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Melissa Bowen (Brian), Kim Davis (John), Jerry Giles, Jr., Rebecca Giles (Jason), Casey Alligood (John), Kyle Clodfelter (Jordan); eight great grandchildren, Kendal, Carson, Hayden, Matthew, Alexis, Raelynn, Landon and Emma and several special cousins.
