The Pitt County’s Sheriff Office on Wednesday arrested registered sex offender Alfredo Lopez Jr., 33, of Washington, on a charge of failing to report a new address.

Lopez is registered to a Washington address on Sandy Ridge Road that is located within Pitt County, near the Pitt-Beaufort County border.

According to a press release, Pitt County detectives conducted a routine unannounced residence check on July 15. Such checks are conducted in order to ensure that registered sex offenders are complying with the state’s Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Programs. The detectives found that Lopez wasn’t living at his registered address.

Lopez was released on a $15,00 secured bond.
