Clinton Garfield Boyd (83) of 1112 Lizzard Slip Road, Washington passed away peacefully at Vidant Medical Center on Monday, September 27, 2021.
The family received friends at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home.
A Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home. Interment was in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pastor, Jim Reed, officiated.
Pallbearers were Bonnie Alligood, Marty Alligood, Rudy Ballance, Charlie Brooks III, Billy Thurman, Jason Wallace and Ted Wallace.
He was born in Beaufort County on March 2, 1938 to the late John Thomas Boyd and Martha Elizabeth (Boyd) Boyd of Acre Station, Pinetown, NC.
He worked with Nutrien (formally Texas Gulf) for 32 years and retired in 1998. In his retirement, he and his wife, Betty Lou, enjoyed many cruises and trips with the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center. Always supporting his children, he was involved with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, United Methodist Youth Fellowship, and Washington High School Band. He was a member and former Trustee of Asbury United Methodist Church of Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Lou Alligood of Washington, NC; a son, Allen Ray Boyd (Betsy) of Washington; daughters, Cindy Boyd Carawan of Washington, NC, Sherry Boyd Taylor (Jimmy) of Pinetops, NC, and Kristi Boyd Woolard (Daniel) of Archer Lodge, NC.; a sister, Joyce Boyd Godley of Washington. Grandchildren: Michael Kosto, Justin Carawan, Kathy Taylor, Mary Taylor, Charli Boyd, Dusty Jarman, Amber Toften (Kobe), Walker Woolard, and Emily Woolard; and an honorary grandchild Christopher Woolard. Mr. Boyd has been blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ferrell Boyd, Hallas Boyd, Dallas Boyd, William Roy Boyd, and Wade Boyd; and sisters, Pearl Whitley, Palestine Ange, Magdaline Respess Sizer, Charlotte Myers, Frances Brooks, Revonda Somers, and Phylliss Alligood; a daughter, Kathy Denise Boyd; a granddaughter Erica Faith Boyd; a great-granddaughter, Lillyanna Jarman, and a son-in-law Dexter Warren Carawan.
