Top Three: Coffield stays on top-plenty of offense Friday night

All three Beaufort County public high schools won big on Homecoming Friday so there are plenty of top performances to recount this week.

 

  1. Kenjray Coffield-the Southside senior tailback followed his 234 yard outburst against Swansboro with 210 more and a pair of touchdowns in the Seahawks 58-38 victory over Pamlico County to claim the Fossil Bowl for the first time in four years and stay undefeated at 5-0. He also caught a 40-yard pass and had four tackles, including one for a loss. Coffield has 723 rushing yards so far this season.

 

  1. Hayes Pippin-the Washington senior quarterback completed 10-14 passes for 254 yards and threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers as the Pack routed Farmville Central, 62-6. The Pack rolled up 655 total yards in the process. Pippin was also crowned Homecoming King at halftime.

 

  1. Mitch Godley-the Northside senior fullback rumbled for 147 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries in the Panthers 51-0 thrashing of East Carteret. Northside ran for 362 yards and seven touchdowns. He also made eight tackles from his linebacker position, including one for a loss.

 

Best of the rest-Northside: Fortino Beltran ran for 66 yards on four carries and scored twice, Carson Clinkscales had 65 yards and a touchdown, while Marcus Clayton had 59 yards and scored twice. Elijah Holloway and Gus Vansant each had a sack and Kasey Alligood intercepted a pass. Chase Tomaini was 7-7 on extra point attempts.

Southside: Jamie Corprew ran for 100 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown as the Seahawks totaled 547 yards on offense. Tequon (Tater) Moore had 96 yards rushing with a touchdown and scored again on a 16-yard reception. Moore also had four tackles, including one for loss. Fullback Keywon Campbell gained 82 yards, scored twice and made five tackles. Alex Moore recovered a fumble; Brandon Clark intercepted a pass and Xavier Hamm recovered an on-side kick.

Washington: Terry Moore ran five times for 123 yards and two touchdowns and caught an 88-yard pass for another score. Kentari Gibbs-Leathers had seven carries for 121 yards and scored twice. Ryan Spruil, William Reid and Messiah Ebron each caught a touchdown pass. Chris Carter intercepted his fourth pass of the season, Khamari Rodman recorded a pair of sacks, while Jonathan Richardson and Nazier McCall recovered fumbles. Gabe Davis and Ramel Knight each had five tackles.
