Mr. Lane Alligood, age 84, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday December 2, 2021 at River Trace Nursing Center in Washington.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 5, 2021 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Tony Krantz.

The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday December 4, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Lane was born in Beaufort County on March 27, 1937, son of the late Ivey Albert Alligood and the late Dora Jefferson Alligood.  He was a 1955 graduate of Bath High School and served his country in the U.S. Army.  On March 26, 1970 he married Ethel “Tippie” Asby who preceded him in death on June 6, 2015.  He worked at Weyerhaeuser of Plymouth as a fine paper operator and loved farming. Mr. Lane enjoyed traveling, especially in the mountains, visiting the sick at nursing homes, and working on antique cars.  He was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ and Down East Car Club.

Survivors include a daughter: Sue Horton of Montevallo, AL; a son: Paris Alligood (Linda) of Washington; a stepson: Eric Hill (Linda) of Pamlico Beach; grandchildren: Jeff Roper, Stephen Horton, Jonathan Alligood, Rachel Herndon (David), D. J. Quidley, Amber Fillingame (Matt), and Gregory Hill; and four great grandchildren.  Mr. Lane was predeceased, along with his parents and wife by a son-in-law: Larry Horton and four sisters: Hattie Woolard, Elsie Bennett, Evelyn Alligood, and Olive Deans

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Beaver Dam Church of Christ, 5125 U.S. Hwy. 264 E., Washington, NC 27889 or to Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, 9131 Anson Way, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27615.
