Will brewers one day learn the tools of the trade within Beaufort County’s expanding brewery market?

Beaufort County Community College President David Loope said Wednesday the college is looking at the feasibility of that idea.

“It can be somewhat complicated to really get into that enterprise — chemistry and all kinds of things,” Loope said. “But we’re in initial discussions with Mulberry House right now.”

Mulberry House Brewery is one of the newest venues in downtown Washington, and it is across the street from another new brewery in Two Rivers Alehouse.

Loope made the announcement during a Beaufort County Economic Development Advisory Board meeting. Loope also provided updates on several ongoing developments and initiatives within the community college.

Loope said the college has logged five registrations for its new Airbnb Entrepreneurship Academy, a program that encourages “inclusive tourism

growth and entrepreneurship in communities around the world,” according to BCCC’s course catalogue. Other developments Loope mentioned include a  customized training project with AAF Flanders, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training with Nutrien and Occupational Safety and Health Administration training with idX. BCCC is also working with NC State University on a reaining program for Pamlic Yachtworks.
