Mr. Billy McCoy Rose, age 78, a resident of Washington, NC died Monday January 17, 2022 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 19, 2022 at Harvest Church in Washington.The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 at Harvest. The service will be officiated by Pastor Thad Tankard and Pastor Bryan Oliver.  Burial will follow in Oakdale.          

Mr. Rose was born in the Pungo community of Beaufort County on May 17, 1943, son of the late Stephen LeRoy Rose and the late Beulah Mae Howard Rose.  He was a 1961 graduate of Pantego High School and continued his education at N.C. State University with a BS in Textile Technology.  Later he attended UNC Greensboro and completed his master’s degree in Business Administration.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a K-C 135 pilot during Vietnam.  On June 1, 1968 he married the love of his life, the former Phyllis Jean Cutler, who survives.  His working career consisted of employment at Guilford Co. Tax Office in Greensboro, National Spinning in Washington and Penco Products in Hamilton with retirement in 2013.  Mr. Rose was a faithful and Godly man who enjoyed loving and providing for his family.  He has been a dedicated member of Harvest Church from its early days as The Barn in Pinetown, NC.  He was a compasionate beliver who steadfastly served and worshipped his Jesus with all his might. 

Surviving along with his wife: Phyllis of the home are his children: Hannah Rose Hale (Tony) of Williamston, Stephen Rose (Lea) of Washington, and Sarah Rose McCall (Jason) of Chocowinity; sisters: Diana R. Respess of Bath and Judy R. Respess (Malvin Jr.) of Pantego; grandchildren: Brianna Lambert, Cameron Rose Todd (Tyrel), Casey Rose, Logan Hale, Savannah Hale, and Jackson McCall.  Mr. Rose was predeceased along with his parents by a son: Benjamin Rose; and brothers: Stephen LeRoy Rose, Jr., Donald R. Rose, and Howard L. Rose and sister Nancy R. Waters.
