Swimmers end regular season

The Washington-Southside boys were second and the girls finished third in the final regular season swim meet Wednesday at the Hildred T. Moore Aquatic Center.

J.H. Rose won both meets, while Jacksonville and East Carteret also competed.

Washington junior John Hinchey won the 200-yard individual medley, the 100 breaststroke and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team with Jackson Wilder, Austin Waters and freshman Victor Hill, who also finished second in the 100 backstroke.

Hinchey, Wilder and Waters also combined with Connor Lewis to finish third in the 200 freestyle relay.

Southsides Campbell Barnes finished second in the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.

The Seahawks Delta Cole led the girls with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle and second place in the 200 freestyle.

Senior Aspen Sommers was third in the 100 breaststroke and combined with Abby Lewis, Elena Hill and Sydney Smithwick in the 400 freestyle relay.

Next up is the East regional in Cary, Feb. 4.
