Robert C. “Bobbie” Rish, 60, of Virginia Beach, VA, died on February 4, 2022.
Bobbie was born June 1, 1961. In 1973 his family moved to Five Hill Farm in the Lynnhaven community, and he graduated from First Colonial High School in the class of 1979. He was a member of the Lifeguard Patrol of Virginia Beach. He was a member of the Kings Grant Presbyterian church. After a short tenure at Wesleyan College, he attended the Maritime Academy of Cape Fear Community College Wilmington, NC, and later the Johnson Wales Culinary School. While employed as a research assistant for Neurosurgical Consultants, Inc., he worked in Virginia Beach restaurants including, the Bamboo Hut and the Raven.
While living in Rappahannock, County, he was the manager of Fox Creek Bed and Breakfast, and Thistle Hill Bed and Breakfast. He was also employed by High on the Hog, and the Blue Rock Inn in Washington, VA where he enjoyed serving many celebrities who requested his personal service. In 2007 he was the head waiter at Fotti’s in Culpeper, VA.
During this period, he was manager of his family’s quarter horse farm in Woodville, VA and became an excellent horseman later working as a groomsman and trainer for the Blue Rock Inn and Polo facility.
In 2008 he worked in food service in Washington, NC before returning to Virginia Beach working as a waiter in La Bella’s, Best Western Grill, and Tempt Restaurant and Lounge.
He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and particularly golf with his father at the Bow Creek golf club in their neighborhood and at the Broad Bay Golf and Country Club where they were founding members.
Survivors include his father, Buck Rish MD; step-mother, Mary; and brother, Monty Rish of Lexington, SC. His outgoing personality and humor will be missed by the many friends he engaged along the merry journey of his life. Memorial and funeral services will be privately conducted by the family.
