Charlie Luendia (Lou) Crisp Martin, age 94, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 4, 2022, and went to her heavenly home, as promised by her Savior Jesus Christ.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11:00 am in Oakdale Cemetery, by Pastor Darren Walker officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives after the service.
Lou was born January 21, 1928, on the family farm located adjacent to Aggies Run near the Snowd Branch Church of God on Cherry Run Road.
Her parents, Aulander L. Crisp and Nancy Biggs Crisp, preceded her in death. She was a 1945 graduate of Chocowinity High School and married Louis Wilkinson Martin, Sr. on September 22, 1946, who predeceased her May 22, 2014. She is survived by one son, Louis W. “Marty” Martin, Jr.
Lou joins those who have predeceased her including her husband, Louis; beloved daughter-in-law, Ladale Midyette Martin; her siblings, parents and grandparents where they all will rejoice together in heaven.
Grandchildren: Stephanie Martin Dixon; Wesley Wilkinson Martin. Sr. and Jason Shane Martin. Great grandchildren: Marion Joshua Allen of Wilmington; Wesley Wilkinson Martin, Jr., of South Carolina; Olivia Ashlynn Baker; Sophia Elizabeth Martin Monette of Cove City; Ashlynn Sloan Martin; Hannah Rose Dixon and great-great grandsons: Marion Malachi Allen, Shane Matthew Toler, Colson Luke Baker and Kaden Kane Martin.
She was predeceased by eight siblings: Ottis Matthew Crisp, Sr., William Bernis Crisp, Jennis McCoy Crisp, Ray Crisp Linnen, Maedell Crisp Jackson, Oma Jay Crisp Duty, Eunice Beatrice Crisp and Gladys Miriam Crisp Elks.
Lou was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church where she sang in the
choir and taught Sunday school as long as her health allowed.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son “Marty” at 117 Slatestone Drive in Washington, NC.
