Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This week at Washington Noon Rotary, Jeffery Phipps provided a history of the Turnage Theatre and also informed the club of upcoming projects to continue renovations of the Vaudeville space.

Jeffery, who is Arts of the Pamlico’s Artistic Director, was introduced by club member Lynn Yde.

Phipps explained that the Vaudeville Theatre was built in 1913 and occupies the second floor above the art galleries.  He displayed a series of poster-sized authentic photos of various acts that had performed at the theatre during the height of the Vaudeville era.

Arts of the Pamlico restoration projects will continue for several years and the goal is to once again use the Vaudeville space for performances.

The Washington Noon Rotary Club conducts weekly one hour luncheon meetings each Monday at King Chicken. Club members can also attend virtually through Zoom.  Become a Rotarian and “Serve to Change Lives” within the community and beyond.  For information about membership, contact Dot Moate at (252) 975-6309 or at info@washingtonnoonrotary.org.
