Junior Rob Bergevin led the Pam Pack golf team to their sixth straight conference golf title with one of the lowest rounds in program history Monday.

Bergevin fired a six-under par 66 at The Links at Cotton Valley Golf Club near Tarboro to complete an undefeated Eastern Plains Conference regular season.

“Rob puts more time and effort into his game than anyone I’ve ever seen,” coach Jim Kozuch said. “He is fantastic in the classroom as well and has earned every bit of recognition he’s gotten. To see his game come together like it did was a beautiful thing.”

Bergevin finished the conference season with a 70 stroke average in earning conference player of the year honors for the second straight year. Ridge Zerniak finished with an 84 average and also made all-conference along with Oliver Thomas (90), Marshall Asby (92) and Ayden Yates (97).

“All our guys have worked hard this spring and show up for practice every day ready to improve,” Kozuch said. “They’ve earned the championship and I’m excited to see what they do at the regional in a couple of weeks and hopefully qualify for the state meet as a team.”

Meanwhile, Northside won its Coastal Plains 1A conference match Monday at Minnesott Golf & Country Club in Arapahoe with a 189 team total. Southside tied with Pamlico County for second place with a four-player total of 200. East Carteret was fourth and the Northside B team took fifth.

Sophomores Wyatt Berry and Gus Vansant led Northside with 46’s over nine holes, while David Wallace had a 48. Senior Zack Bond completed the scoring with a 49.

Southside’s Gabe Matthews finished second overall with a 44, one shot behind Pamlico County medalist Noah Johnson.

Caleb Dixon (51), Harrison Phelps (51) and Ty Cole (54) rounded out the Seahawks scoring.

Matthew Carter led the Panthers B team with a 47, followed by Cole Tomaini (54), Avery O’Neal (56) and Max Vansant (59)
