Steelion Chase “Steele” Whichard, age 27, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday April 17, 2022, at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday April 22, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Chester Caudill.  Burial will follow in the Mayo Cemetery in Aurora.  Pallbearers will be Jason Whichard, Daniel Bonner, Jacob Bonner, Zachary Andrew, Chase Andrew, and Tripp Dixon.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday April 21, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of his parents: Crystal and Kenneth Andrew, 240 Wells Avenue, Washington.

Steele was born in Pitt County on August 13, 1994, son of Steven Lee Whichard and Crystal Gail Phelps Andrew.  He was a graduate of the early college program at Beaufort County Community.  Following his graduation, he was a machine operator with CT Nassau Tape Company.  He loved cooking, animals “especially horses”, socializing and spending time on the water.

Surviving along with his father: Steven of Aurora and mother Crystal Andrew of Washington includes a step-father: Kenneth Andrew of Washington; siblings: Chase William Andrew (Lilly) of Wahiawa, HI, Zachary William Andrew (Sofia Estrela) of Norfolk, VA, and Macy Andrew (Tim Dixon) of Washington; maternal grandparents: Elaine Phelps Johnson and Bill Johnson of Robersonville; paternal grandparents: Linda and Brad Miller of Washington, Jimmy and Suzanne Whichard of Chocowinity, Steve and Sue Bonner of Washington; great grandmother: Myra Mayo of Aurora; and a niece: Kenleigh Dixon of Washington.  Steele was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: James Larry Phelps; and his paternal great grandfather: Bill Mayo.
