County schools set for track regionals

Washington High School has qualified the following athletes for Saturday’s 2A East regional track and field meet at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City:

Senior William Reid-second in the 110 hurdles and seventh in the 300 hurdles.

Sophomore Hailey Broadwell- seeded fifth in the 3200 meters, seventh in the 1600 and sixth in the 4 x800 relay along with Jessica Conner, Reagan Fisher and Jazmine Granados.

Fisher- 11th in the 1600, while Conner (12th) and Sary Acosta will also compete in the 3200.

The top four finishers in each event qualify for the 2A state meet May 20 in Greensboro.

Northside and Southside will compete in the 1A regional Saturday at Pamlico County High School. Panther qualifiers include:

Kiele Scott-1600 and 3200 meter races and the 300 hurdles.

Lauren Rouse- triple-jump and the 100 meters

Mariah Jones-shot put, Abby Jarvis- high jump and Anna D. Taylor in the 400 meters.

4 x 100: Trinity O’Neal, Sierra Minor, Tatianna Moore and Keniyah Whitley.

4 x 200 relay: Rouse, O’Neal, Minor and Moore,

4 x 400 relay: Rouse, Scott, Taylor and Anna Claire Barrett

4 x8 00 relay: Barrett, Ava Hedgepeth, Emma Boyd and Leah Cahoon.

For the boys,

Marcus Clayton- high jump, 100 high hurdles and 100 meters. Zane Brooks-100 & 300 high hurdles, Keanu Dugan-1600 and 3200 meters Mason Newman-800 & 1600 meters and Andrew Harding 1600 & 3200 meters, Jayvian O’Neal-shot put, Jordan Harding-triple jump, Bryson Proctor-300 high hurdles, Chase Tomani and Gavyn Taylor-200 meters

And Brent Holland-400 meters.

4 x 100-Taylor, Clayton, Tomaini and O’Neal

4 x 200-Proctor, Taylor, Tomaini and O’Neal

4 x 400-Holland, Proctor, Taylor and Jordan Harding

4 x 800-Newman, Andrew Harding, Dugan & Holland

Southside girls competitors include Mackenzie Sparks in the shot put and discus, Madison Carlton in the discus, I’kiriyah Minor in the triple jump and Ka’Nyah O’Neal in the high jump.

Emma Smith is in the 800, while Jalyn Oden is in the 100 hurdles.

4 x 100: O’Neal, Oden, Anija More and Melanda Smith.

4 x 200: O’Neal, Oden, Smith and Tamia Smith

4 x 800: Delta Cole, Emma Smith, Lelia Jones and Savannah Phelps

Seahawks boys include Xavier Ham in the shot put and discus, Elgin Stilley and Elyjah Baldwin in the discus, Victor Gonzalez in the long jump and 400 meters, Darren Joyner in the high jump and the 100, Tater Moore in the long jump, Hunter Leary in the 110 hurdles and Pedro Chavez-Pullman in the 1600.

4 x 100: Moore, Joyner, Leary and Kenjray Coffield

4 x 200: Gonzalez, Moore, Joyner and Coffield

4 x 400: Gonzalez, Coffield, Chavez-Pullman and Jacob Taylor

4 x 800: Taylor, Chavez-Pullman, Nolan Dixon and Cameron Moore

The top four finishers in each event qualify for the 1A state meet in Greensboro May 21.
