FOOTBALL REGISTRATION: Chocowinity Rec Department flag and tackle football registration opens Monday, June 6 and closes Saturday, July 9. Games start in September. Register online at chocorec.org.

DANCE: Thursday, June 9 from 7-10 p.m. at the Washington Civic Center Jenny Bright and Carolyn Ricks are hosting with D.J. Stanley Edwards (Woogie) providing the music. CHURCH FUNDRAISER: Friday, June 10 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 88 Asbury Church Road, Washington 11 a.m.-1 p.m. $ 8. SUMMER FESTIVAL: June 10-11 on Water Street along the Washington Waterfront. Washington native Craig Woolard and The Embers will perform Friday night and the Alabama Blues Queen herself, DieDra Ruff, will take the stage Saturday night. There will be a 5K fun run on Saturday morning. Rides, bounce houses and games will be set up for kids. Saturday, armbands will be available for $25 for all-you-can-ride amusements from 1-4 p.m., and United Way will be holding a “duckie” race on the waterfront. Food includes ice cream, funnel cakes, burgers and shrimp baskets. The Little Washington Sailing School will be giving free sailboat rides. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. The public is asked to bring nonperishable food items to donate to Eagles Wings Food Pantry. Info: www.wbcchamber.com

YARD SALE: Second Baptist Church is having a yard sale Saturday, June 11 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 2516 W. 5thSt., Washington. Clothes, furniture, baby items, household items and more will be available.

FREE CONCERT: Arts of the Pamlico presents Music in the Park. Sunday, June 12 at Mac Hodges Festival Park. The Alex Williams Experience will perform music from Kool & the Gang, the Commodores, the Bee Gees, Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins and more from 5-8 p.m. Beer/wine/soft drinks & food from the Jerk Truck will be for sale.

MEETING: The Brown Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Brown Library.

JUNETEENTH FREEDOM FESTIVAL: Saturday, June 18 from 4-8 p.m. in Beebe Memorial Park, Washington.  Freedom to Prosperity parade, youth performances, competitive field events, scavenger hunt, motorcycles and classic cars and more. Planned by the Human Relations Council in partnership with Boys & Girls Club, City of Washington and other local groups.

FREE CONCERT: Arts of the Pamlico presents Music in the Park, Sunday, June 26 at Mac Hodges Festival Park. Trainwreck will perform from 5-8 p.m. Beer/wine & food for sale.

JULY FOURTH CELEBRATION: Fireworks return to the Washington waterfront. Throughout the holiday, people can enjoy kayaking, cycling, great food, shopping and Independence Day fun.
