Mr. Arthur Windley “Art” Carawan II, age 55, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2022, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  B.B. Cox, Michael Carawan, Rocky Stevenson, Ryan Ange, Staton Richardson and Mark Richardson.

Art was born in Charleston, S.C. on October 15, 1966. He was the son of Mary Reynolds Carawan Hopkins and the late Charles Windley Carawan. Art worked in radio broadcasting for many years. He was a lover of music, history, and genealogy. Art was an avid Duke basketball fan.

Art is survived by his significant other, Holly Ange of Washington; mother and stepfather, Mary and Billy Hopkins of Williamston; son, Michael Charles Carawan of Kingsland, Ga.; sister, Paula Stephenson of Washington; nephew, Rocky Stephenson of Washington; Holly’s children (who he thought of as his own) Ryan Ange of the home, Ashley Sufrinko (Liz) of Charlotte; aunt, Doris Reynolds and uncle, Charles Reynolds (Virginia).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
