The Washington High School softball team headed to Chapel Hill Friday for their first appearance in the 2A state championship series with the sounds of cowbells, a cheering crowd waving signs and a police escort.
The Pam Pack, 27-0, will face two-time defending state champion West Stanly (27-4) in a best of three series that started Friday night. Game two is at 12 p.m. Saturday, followed by the deciding game if necessary. Go to thewashingtondailynews.com for complete coverage.
“We are excited and ready to get started,” coach Brad Horton said. “We appreciate everybody coming out to send us off and we are proud to represent the 2A east.”
