Marjory Estell Pierce Mizell, age 100, died Monday, June 6, 2022 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday June 12, 2022 at Christian Hope Church of Christ and will be officiated by Wayne Davis and Larry Woodley. Private burial will be at Mizell Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include, Dwayne Ange, Rodney Ange, Gary Sherwood, Wayne Waters, Raymond Revels, Eric Riddick. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Gardner, Ed Craft, Tommy Hardison, and Hughes Boyd.

Mrs. Mizell was born in Beaufort County on August 11, 1921 to the late Preston Parker Pierce and Vermell McCullough Pierce. She attended Bath High School. On August 27, 1939 she married William Howard Mizell who preceded her in death on August 17, 1993, and worked along beside him on the farm. She was a long-time member of Christian Hope Church of Christ and taught the adult Sunday school class. She was a member of the Ladies Home Extension Service of Washington County. She worked as a waitress at Tetterton’s Restaurant in Plymouth for many years.  She also enjoyed cooking for the family and friends, canning and freezing vegetables from her garden and making jams and jellies.

Survivors include her children, four daughters, Vermelle Chesson of Plymouth, Gail Dalton (Barry) of Chesapeake, VA, Rebecca Mizelle of Plymouth, LaRue Potter (Tommy) of Plymouth, two sons, Michael Mizell (Elizabeth) of Guam, Joseph Ivan Mizell (Louise) of Plymouth, 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Marjory was a loving mother to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One very special Hound Dog – “Coco”.

She is preceded in death by five siblings, Wilton Pierce, Johnny Pierce, Ollie Wallace, Jewel Chaplain, and Ruby Frank.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour Sunday June 12, 2022 at Christian Hope Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mizell Family Cemetery, 8707 Long Ridge Road, Plymouth, NC 27962.
