Mr. Hobson Basnight “Skybo” Langley, Jr., age 82, a resident of Washington, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services were held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by William Ray Askew and Pastor Timothy Whealton. Burial followed in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

The following served as active pallbearers:  Neal Dixon, Linwood Rowe, Brian Johnson, Todd Purvis, Chris Toppins and Tristan Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers were:  Marshall Singleton, James Penley, Carl Jones, Bartow Houston, John Tetterton, Keith Colston, Terry Warick, Ottis Cox, Dallas Toler and Ronald Alligood.

Mr. Langley was born in Beaufort County on September 27, 1939. He was the son of the late Hobson Basnight Langley, Sr., and Louise Cozzens Langley. Mr. Langley graduated from Washington High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired warehouse manager with National Spinning. Mr. Langley was a member and deacon of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Mason, Shriner, Red Man, Gideon  and an Optimist. Mr. Langley was a past member of the Washington Yacht & Country Club and Bayview Golf Club. He was a founding member of the Loyal Order of the Ground Hogs.

In his spare time, Mr. Langley enjoyed participating in church activities, playing golf, performing as a D.J., listening to country music, and boating.

Mr. Langley was married to the former Alice Faye Williams, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Langley is survived by his sister, Phyllis Burroughs of Washington; niece, Carol West (Ron) of Washington; nephew, Wayne Boyd (Sherri) of Washington; niece, Debra Carpenter of Raeford; and longtime friend, Margaret Jewell of Blounts Creek.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Langley is preceded in death by a sister, Iris Langley Boyd and brother, Robert Thomas “Tommy” Langley.

The family received friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of his nephew, Wayne Boyd, 6724 River Road, Washington.
