Mrs. Barbara Burbage Paul, age 63, a resident of Bath, NC died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at her home.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2022, at St. Clairs Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with nursing honors given by the Eastern North Carolina Nursing Honor Guard.  Pallbearers will be Thomas Burbage, Adam Burbage, Daniel Paul. Colby Mason, William Boyd, Brandon Paul, and Stuart Paul.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at Barbara’s home in Bath or at the home of her daughter, Crystal located at 266 Abbey Lane, Washington, NC.

Barbara was born in Chincoteague County, VA on August 18, 1958, daughter of the late James Talmadge Burbage, Sr. and Mary Frances Norman Burbage who survives.  She was a 1978 graduate of Bath High School and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College where she received her associates degree in nursing.  On March 25, 1979, she married the love of her life, Jerry Burbage Paul who preceded her in death on August 18, 2006. Barbara was a registered nurse at Beaufort County Hospital, Pitt Memorial Hospital, and Pungo District Hospital, and Beaufort County Health Department.  As a nurse she completed her Emergency Medical Technician training.  As an EMT she volunteered with Bath Community Rescue and served on their board of directors.  Family was very important to Barbara.  When her health permitted, she loved helping others.  Other hobbies were making jewelry, scrap booking, and making cards.  She was happiest when she was spending time with her late husband.    Barbara was a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ.

Surviving along with her mother: Fran of Washington are her children: Crystal L. Paul-Stox (Michael) of Washington, and Mark Allen Paul (Jessie Miller) of Charlottesville, VA; Brothers: Jimmy T. Burbage, Jr. of Bath, Tom Burbage, Sr. (Darla) of Washington, and Don Burbage of Elizabeth City; brothers-in-law: Louis Wilson Paul (Diana) of Pinetown, Mark Andrew Paul (Lynn) of Pantego, Carlton Lee Paul (Marilyn) of Washington, and Richard Lacy Paul (Darlene) of Pinetown.  Barbara was predeceased along with her father and husband by a sister-in-law: Doris Burbage.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
