All three county teams that played Friday lost to the Eagles. Washington fell at West Craven, Southside lost at Rosewood and Pungo succumbed at home to Northeast Academy in 8-man action. Northside had the week off.

There were some superlative individual performances despite the lack of team success.

  1. Tequan (Tater) Moore-the Southside junior running back/defensive back did his best to carry the Seahawks to a win. He scored all three touchdowns on runs of 39, 18 and 55 yards for 187 of his teams 259 rushing yards, returned kicks for 46 yards and made five solo and one assisted tackle on defense in the 27-18 loss at Rosewood.
  1. Conner Sweet-the Pungo Christian Academy senior caught touchdown passes of 12 and 22 yards and ran 40 yards for another score in the Raiders 56-36 home loss to Northeast Academy. Sweet also caught a 47-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage to set up his first touchdown.
  1. Gabe Davis-the sophomore linebacker contributed 18 tackles including three for loss in Washington’s 41-14 loss at West Craven in the Eastern Plains Conference opener. He had 15 tackles with five for loss the week before.

Best of the Rest: PCA: sophomore running back Quay Artis had touchdown runs of 42 and 35 yards, while Ethan Mann recovered a pair of Northeast fumbles. Southside: Defensive lineman Elyjaih Baldwin had eight tackles, while Jacob Taylor had six. Elgin Stilley caught a pair of passes for 30 yards. Washington: Kahlil Rodgers and Kendrick Melton recovered fumbles and Jonathan Carter had a 40-yard punt return for a touchdown.
