Northside lost, 29-22, at East Carteret Monday in the Coastal Plains Conference opener for both teams.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved to Thursday because of Hurricane Ian’s approach. However, high wind along the coast postponed the game to Monday.

Marcus Clayton and Carson Clinkscales had rushing touchdowns for the Panthers (3-3, 0-1), while Elijah Holloway blocked a punt in the end zone for the third touchdown. East Carteret is also 3-3.

It’s a short week for Northside as they host Southside Friday in the annual Anchor Bowl rivalry game.
