Fayetteville — Lottie Moore Hedgepeth died peacefully on November 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She follows her husband of 67 years, Bill who died recently on October 18, 2022.

She was born in Rocky Mount, NC on December 4th, 1935 to Luther Lee Moore and Katie Blanche Moore. She attended Rocky Mount High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Lee Hedgepeth.

She moved to Fayetteville, NC in 1967 where she was reunited with two of her sisters, Jean Harris and Phyllis Perry. While in Fayetteville, she and her sister Phyllis, owned and operated the Emporium Gift Shop under the Bordeaux Shopping Center Eiffel Tower. It was one of the first gift shops featuring “unique gifts” in the Fayetteville area. After that she worked at Highland Dry Cleaners for many years. She took pride in dressing professionally, and impeccably, even in the searing heat of a dry cleaners during Fayetteville summers. She then worked at Treadaway’s Florist for many years. She enjoyed working at these popular Fayetteville businesses and made many friends over the years and these relationships remain to this day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 67 years. Also, her son-in-law, Tommy Colbert, her parents, step-father Joseph Hager and siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Hedgepeth and Beth H. Colbert, son William (Bill) L. Hedgepeth II and his wife Dede L. Hedgepeth, grandchildren Ashley Roman, and her husband Frank, Ben, Hannah and her fiancé Cooper Luce, William Lee III, great grandchildren Waylen and Kendall, her sister Jean Harris and her sister-in-laws, Mable Moore, Peggy Anderson and Marie Hedgepeth, all from North Carolina.

Family and friends were her priority. She enjoyed being with her family, especially at Christmas and hosted the famous Hedgepeth Christmas Eve parties each year for family and friends. She loved being with the extended family at our annual July 4th family beach vacations. She enjoyed trips to Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other locations with her husband Bill and other family members. Most of all she loved the companionship of the love of her life, Bill. In his obituary, we stated he was the “rock of the family.” She was his “rock.”

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and sister. Her lasting legacy will be one of grace, compassion, kindness, patience, joy and a determination to put others’ happiness above her own. We are extremely saddened by our loss and she will be missed beyond words.
