Lights of Love shone for the 37th consecutive year at ECUHealth Beaufort starting on Monday evening, Dec. 5. Guests were treated to dancing and singing by students at Eastern Elementary School who performed “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bells,” “Dancing Through the Snow,” “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” and more.

Announced on Monday night were the runners-up and winner of Superintendent Dr. Matthew Cheeseman’s Christmas Card Art Contest. The winner was Sofia Norzagaray Bernal, a fifth grader at Northeast Elementary School. First runner up was Paris Foster, a senior at Northside High School and second runner up was Christopher Ramirez Vega, an eighth grader at Northeast Elementary School. Third runner up was Naomi Jordan, a junior at Northside High School.

Families were treated to hot chocolate, cookies and pictures with Santa.

Lights of Love is an annual event hosted by ECUHealth Beaufort “by a dedicated group of volunteers who wanted to establish a means for the community to give to their local hospital and also as a way for community members to celebrate or remember a loved one during the holiday season,” according to the hospital. “The thousands of lights on the tree represent the generosity of the community over the years and the hundreds of thousands of dollars that have been raised to support projects here at the hospital.”

Donations go toward promoting health care education, improving community wellness, support and enhance patient care and provide amenities to make hospital visits more comfortable for patients and visitors.
