“Hear Our Prayer, Everyone.”

This heart-felt plea, so piercingly expressed, was passed along to me by a very sweet lady; Ann Cherry: The underlined letters spelled out HOPE.

Well, now, maybe, just maybe, at least a few of you will indulge me some additional quotations.

Here goes:

In St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he wrote “Love keeps no score of wrongs, does not gloat over other men’s (or women’s) but delights in the truth.

“There is nothing love cannot face, there is no limit to its faith, its hope and its endurance.”

Now, living up to that didactic challenge is a very tall order. Very.

Let me, friends, share the following from Jim, whom we knew on the Outer Banks. He later relocated to Florida.

It’s titled “He is Gone.”

“You can shed tears that he is gone. Or you can smile because he has lived.” (Sound familiar? Think of the Queen Mum. You know, Queen Elizabeth’s ‘mum’).

“You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back. Or you can open your eyes and see that he has left.

“Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him, or you can be full of love that you shared.

“You can turn your back on tomorrow, and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.” (Your call.)

“You can remember him and only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.”

“You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn back, or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes.”

Now, let me wrap up this Saturday of Quotations:

“Watch your thoughts, For they become words.

“Watch your words, For they become actions.

“Watch your actions, For they become habits.

“Watch your habits, For they become character.

“Watch your character, For it becomes your destiny. What we think we become.”

And so it goes.
