Mrs. Peggy Joan Leary Anderson Branch, age 80, a resident of Washington, NC died Friday, December 30, 2022, at River Trace Nursing Center in Washington.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday January 4, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Darren Walker.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  Stuart Barrow, Daniel Dell, Damon Johnson, Dustin Bowles, and Joe Phillips will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at her home.

Mrs. Peggy was born in Pamlico County on December 1, 1942, daughter of the late Harve3y Redden Leary and the late Shirley Katherine Smith Leary.  On March 1, 1963, she married Thomas McGee Anderson who preceded her in death on March 11, 1990.  On June 1, 1991, she married Carlton Ray Branch, Sr. who preceded her in death on February 5, 2009.  She worked for Beaufort County School System as a Child Nutritionist and their after-school program.  Mrs. Peggy attended Rose of Sharon Original Free Will Baptist Church in Bear Grass.  Her hobbies included sewing and cooking.

Survivors include two daughters: Tammy A. Lewis (Allen) of Washington and Robin A. Potter (Lee) of Chocowinity; three grandchildren: Brandi L. Barrow (Stuart) of Washington, Casey L. Dell (Daniel) of Washington, and Anderson Potter (Abbey) of Chocowinity; and three great grandchildren: Russell Allen Barrow, Archer James Barrow, and Audrey Christine Dell.  Mrs. Peggy was predeceased, along with her parents and husbands by a brother: Tony Leary; and a sister: Phyllis Baker.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA, 30309-1465 or to Four Paws & A Wakeup, P.O. Box 12544, Wilmington, NC 28405.
