Yvonne Corey Gibbs was born on December 17, 1952. She received her formal education at the Beaufort County Schools in Washington, N.C.

Yvonne Corey Gibbs accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with St. John Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, where she served as a member of the Vault Club, Willing Workers Club, Children’s Church Ministry, and The Women Ministry.

She was employed by Stanadyne Diesel and Gasoline fuel injections Systems as a Lead Machinist/ operator for over 30 years until she retired. In her leisure, she enjoyed walking at the waterfront, working on crossword puzzles, and going on adventures with her grandson Jace.

Yvonne Corey Gibbs departed this life on January 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by Mother: Kathleen Corey; Brother: Earl T. Peele; Sister: Pastor Joan Gray; Son: Edward E. Ghee Jr.; and Sister: Evelyn Biggs.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Children: Vonda Kaye Anderson (Trevor) of Durham NC and Denise L. Gibbs of Knightdale, NC; Grandchildren: Brittney L. Shelton of Durham, NC and Jace K. Wynn of Knightdale, NC; Great-granddaughter: Sianni Sconyers; Brothers and Sisters: William Corey, Lela Faison, Melvin (Linda) Corey, Kathleen (Ronald)Flowers, Rick (Tamiko) Corey, Ola (Kevin) Martin, Georgia (James) Smallwood, Mona brooks, Annie Mae (Larry) Johnson, Edward C. (Minnie) Brooks, and Ruth H. Brodgen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Church. Visitation will be held Friday January 20, 2023 at Heavenly Arms Family Mortuary Memorial Chapel from 4-7pm.
