Bergevin goes low, Panthers outduel Seahawks

Washington High School senior Rob Bergevin shot a season best five under par 67 to the lead the Pack to a first place finish in Monday’s Eastern Plains 2A Conference match at Harbour Pointe Golf Club in New Bern.

Marshall Asby posted the second best Washington score with an 86. Farmville Central finished second and leads Washington by 12 strokes with two matches to go in the league season.

Meanwhile, Southside’s Caleb Dixon finished with a 38 at the Paradise Point Golf Club to claim medalist honors in the Coastal Plains 1A Conference match.

Northside (173) claimed the team title by five strokes over the host school, Lejeune (178), with the Seahawks third at 186.

Northside’s Gavin Sawyer finished second with a 39, while Wyatt Berry (43), Claire Holmes (46) and David Wallace (45) completed the Panthers scoring.

Gabe Matthews (42), Harrison Phelps (50) and Latham Dixon (56) completed the Southside scoring.
