The Greater Bath Memorial Day Celebration has been canceled, according to event organizers. The event, scheduled for Saturday, was canceled due to the forecasted weather for this weekend, according to a social media post published by the Greater Bath Foundation who plans the celebration.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for the weekend predicts rain, wind and thunderstorms Friday through Monday.

“We are disappointed that we have had to cancel the event but felt we had no choice with the weather that has been forecasted for this weekend,” the post reads.

The Smokin on the Point barbecue competition is still scheduled for Saturday, and there will be 22 team competing. The teams will arrive on Friday afternoon and the competition will begin that evening.  Barbecue sandwiches and pounds of barbecue will be sold by the pound on Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Bath Volunteer Fire Department, according to Greater Bath’s social media post.

The Greater Bath Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to promote the Town of Bath through tourism, beautification and hosting special events like the Memorial Day Celebration.
