Write Again …It’s all about compounding

Hello, everyone. Thanks for joining me here today. It’s much appreciated.
I am going to share with you that which the good folks at Hoyt Wealth Management passed on to its clients. (For we old timers here, we remember that the Hoyts were a very prominent family in Little Washington.)
What’s Compounding in Your Life?
We’ve likely all heard and seen examples of compounding interest and its effect on our investments. I’ll always remember the time my Dad sat me down when I started my first job and showed me an illustration of what a consistent monthly investment could turn into one day thanks to compounding interest.
Albert Einstein even referred to compounding interest as the ‘eighth wonder of the world.’
It (unfortunately) never occurred to me until recently that compounding interest is a concept that can be applied to far more than just our finances.
Pausing to reflect on this for a few minutes led me to think of the many areas of our lives that can compound exponentially.
Kindness compounds. Gratitude compounds. Encouragement compounds. Healthy habits compound.
Have you ever pulled up to the drive-thru window to pay for your order, only to have the cashier inform you that the person in front of you paid for your order and that it started seven cars in front on them? That’s compounding kindness.
The list goes on and on.
However, if each of these qualities can compound, so can their counterparts.
Bitterness compounds. Discouragement compounds. Thanklessness compounds. Unsustainable work habits compound. Once again the list goes on and on.
This type of compounding can have just as much impact on our lives as the first type mentioned. Therefore, it’s important to reflect and take inventory of what actions and habits in our lives are compounding.
What’s compounding in your life? Let’s strive to ensure that the interest on our investments isn’t the only thing compounding for our benefit.
Now, friends, that is didactic.
