Southside senior Logan Dail signed with Bryant and Stratton to play softball. The Bobcats have multiple campuses in a few different states. Dail will be attending the Virginia location in Virginia Beach.

The location is what drove Dail to sign there. She is excited that the school is on the beach and only a three hour drive from home. She said the location combined with her love of the campus itself made her feel like Bryant and Stratton was the right choice.

She began playing when she was three years old in Tee-ball. She fell in love with the game and 15 years later is still playing. “This is a game of failure,” Dail said. “Over the years, I have learned many life lessons through softball. It has been a great learning experience for me”

She specializes in middle infield, playing mostly shortstop and second base. She did not make many errors and played sound defense. “She has great athletic ability,” head coach Kam Rouse said. “She had a huge impact for us. Her knowledge of the game along with her speed made her into a great player.”

She ended the season with 33 stolen bases, which placed first in 1A and top ten in the state. She hit .456 and had 26 hits on the year, the second-best on the Seahawks.

Rouse said she was both a great player and a leader. “She knew how to keep our spirits up. When I was frustrated or upset, she always knew how to help. She brought the smiles to me and her teammates,” Rouse said.

Dail said her favorite moment of the season was upsetting Chatham Charter in the first round of the playoffs. They were the 26-seeded team and went on the road to beat the seven-seeded Knights. “We had an underdog mentality,” she said. “A lot of people didn’t think we could win, but we played our best game of the season and proved that we could win.”

She plans to go into nursing at Bryant and Stratton and is eager to continue building new relationships in college. “I still have a lot to learn as a player and I know my coaches will help me with that. I am excited to make new friends, and teammates, and continue to learn as much as I can.”
