Mrs. Margaret “Jennette” Walker Rowe, age 82, a resident of Rowe Avenue, Chocowinity, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, conducted by Pastor David Linton, Sr.

Mrs. Rowe was born in Beaufort County on April 17, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Alton David Walker and Alta Mae Smithwick Walker.  Mrs. Rowe worked in the Accounting Department at PCS (now Nutrien) until her retirement.

She was an active member of Edward Christian Church.  Mrs. Rowe was Director of the “Hanging of the Greens” and baked sweets for the Senior Saint meetings.  She was a certified EMT and served as a volunteer at Beaufort County Hospital (now ECU Health Beaufort). In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with the J.O.Y. Group, the Bill and Maggie Travel group and the Grace Martin Senior travel group.  In all her travels, Mrs. Rowe said she saw nothing prettier than Blounts Creek.

Mrs. Rowe was married to James Thomas Rowe, Sr., who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Kay Westbrook and husband, Dewayne of Aurora, Patty Lewis of the home; two stepson, Jimmy Rowe, Greg Rowe, and wife Teresa all of Chocowinity; five grandchildren, Christie Hawkins, Layne Booth and husband Tommy, Marina Gold and husband Jordan, Caitlyn Westbrook, Sierra Riddle and husband John; seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Marie Bonner; three sisters, Nora Brinson, Geraldine Swindell, Nona Potter; and a brother, Norwood Walker.
