Northside’s Wainwright among Goose Creek run winners

Runners participated in four different competitions at last Saturday’s Goose Creek Trail Run & Hike at Goose Creek State Park.
Participants took part in a 10K hike, 10K trail race, half marathon trail race and 50K trail race. Runners came from all over Eastern North Carolina with several from Beaufort County winning and doing well.
10K hike
Jacob Petty of Greenville won the race in 1:17.43.99, beating out 21 other runners. The rest of the runners to complete the top five were:

10K trail race
Blake Wainwright of Northside High School, who lives in Bath, won the race in 46:27.22 to best Samantha Karwacki of Bethlehem, Pa. (47:31.27). The other runners to finish out the top five included Charlie Justice, the former ECU track coach, who came in at 47:46.29. The rest of the top five were:

Half marathon
Micah McKinney of Greenville took home first place in 44:04. He beat out Rocky Mount’s Mauricio Morales (50:15) for top honors. Other runners in the top five were:

5. Ray Butts, Dunn, 52:18
50K run
Aaron Gerlach of Greenville completed the race in 4:20.22.49. The rest of the top five included:
