Open Door Women’s Shelter, a program of Open Door Community Center, has received a $5,000 grant from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund to support its emergency shelter operations.

Laurie Stewart, Executive Director of Open Door, said the funds would be used to provide safe, temporary shelter for women and their children experiencing homelessness. Furthermore, Open Door provides case management services to enhance life skills and access to community resources, enabling women to transition into long-term, stable housing.

“With these funds we’re able to continue providing warm beds and security for women who find themselves without a stable roof over their heads,” Stewart said.

In both rural and urban settings, the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund supports hundreds of importantorganizations and programs in the communities where they operate with funding, time, expertise and resources. Weyerhaeuser made its first charitable donation in 1903 and has provided more than $266 million in grants through its formal giving program, which was established in 1948.
