Northside senior cross country star Andrew Harding has picked up another honor.

Harding was voted as the Male Runner of the Year by HighSchoolOT.com. He joined Asheville’s Sofi Alexander, who was chosen Female Runner of the Year, and Cardinal Gibbons’ Nick Mangum as Coach of the Year.

A vote was held for each sport and in several different categories. People were able to vote once a day after registering at the website. Harding was one of five finalists for the male runner of the year, joining Seaforth’s Jack Anstrom, Asheville’s Michael Haskin, Western Harnett’s Ethan Rich and Forsyth Country Day’s John Templeton.

The HighSchoolOT.com story that recognized each athlete said of Harding, “Andrew Harding, a senior at Northside-Pinetown, won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A state championship with a time of 15:28.84.”

Harding recently committed to continuing his running career at Charlotte University. He’ll also take part in the Class 1A/2A indoor track state championships this Friday and Saturday. He’ll participate in the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.
