148 pounds of methamphetamine seized in Beaufort County

On Feb. 12, 2025, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit conducted a follow up investigation on information received following an arrest made in Pitt County by the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force on Jan. 16, 2025.
This new information led Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and K9 Athos to a location in Pantego, NC to inspect several pallets of stone landscape pavers. While observing these pallets, K9 Athos was deployed and indicated on the presence of an illegal narcotic.
A further examination was made on one of the stone pavers and it was found to contain 800 grams of crystal methamphetamine encased in the concrete. Investigators unloaded all the pallets and a total of 84 stone pavers were found, each containing 800 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, at total 67 kilos (148 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine was seized. The Investigation is still ongoing by the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Raleigh, North Carolina, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and other support agencies.
