Over the Valentine’s Day weekend, the Salty Crab Restaurant at Dowry Creek Marina sponsored a fund-raising event for the benefit of the Back Pack Pals program operated by St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath. Back Pack Pals is in its 22nd year, and is now providing weekend food supplements to 89 children at the Bath and Northeast Elementary Schools. Pictured are Steven and Zack Zeltner, presenting a check to Chris Kiricoples from St. Thomas. Back Pack Pals is staffed by 28 volunteers from the St. Thomas Church and is financially supported by its Congregation, as well as other local funding sources, churches and agencies such as Martha’s Food Pantry, the ECU Health Community Benefits Grant Program, the Trinity Methodist Women’s Group, the Tri-County Telephone Foundation, and Bath Christian Church.
