CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Southside High School star KaNyah O’Neal has been selected to the CIAA Women’s Basketball All-Rookie Team

An impressive first college basketball season that saw her win Rookie of the Week honors five times, including two straight at one stretch and three straight in another, culminated in her making the squad. Her recognition was part of the postseason honors that were released before the start of the CIAA Tournament this week in Charlotte. The honors were awarded after votes by the CIAA’s Sports Information Directors Association.

She earned Rookie of the Week honors in weeks 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11.

Fayetteville State won the CIAA South with an 18-6 overall record, 9-1 in the division. The team has won seven straight after its first-round CIAA Tournament win over Bluefield State. The Broncos were scheduled to pla Virginia Union in Friday’s semifinals.
