FROM THE WEEKEND: House deemed total loss after fire, family pets perish

Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a possible structure fire at 7:27 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 8 on Sidney Road.

“Upon arrive firefighters confirmed a working structure fire with significant fire and smoke showing,” according to a social media post published by the fire department.

There were no reported injuries and deaths.

The structure was deemed a total loss and three cats belonging to the affected family perished in the fire.

Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Belhaven Volunteer Fire Department, Pantego Volunteer Fire Department, Bath Volunteer Fire Department, Beaufort County Emergency Services and EMS 6 responded to the report.
